Best Photo for an Elf Dance AI Video (With Examples)

By the Elf Dance AI team · Last updated:

The photo you upload decides how much the dancing elf looks like you. You do not need a professional picture, but a few simple rules make a big difference. These tips are based on what works best with Elf Dance AI.

Make your own elf dance video

Upload one photo of you or your dog or cat. Get the 10-second video in a few minutes, from $5.99.

Make mine from one photo

The short version

One person (or one pet), face sharp and clearly visible, looking roughly at the camera, in even daylight. Waist-up or full body is best. No sunglasses, masks or heavy beauty filters.

One adult or one pet, face clear and facing the camera, even light.

3Who is dancing?

Framing: waist-up or full body

The AI has to invent the parts of the body it cannot see. A waist-up or full-body photo gives it your real build and posture, so the dancing body looks like yours. A tight face close-up works, but the body will be more of a guess.

Face and light

Your face should be in focus and evenly lit. Daylight from a window is ideal. Avoid strong shadows across the face, backlight (a bright window behind you) and very dark party photos. Keep your hair off your face if you can.

One person per photo

Each video has one dancer. In a group photo the AI may pick the wrong person or mix faces. Crop the photo to just the person you want, or use a different photo.

What to wear in the photo

For the Elf Dance and Santa Dance styles it does not matter, because the AI dresses you in the costume. For Christmas Party you keep your own outfit, so wear what you would wear to a holiday party: a Christmas sweater, a bright top or a dress all work well. Plain clothes also look better than busy logos.

Photos of dogs and cats

Take the photo at your pet’s eye level, with the whole body visible and the face sharp. Avoid photos where the pet is curled up, moving or half hidden. One animal per photo.

Photos you cannot use

Photos of children, celebrities or public figures, or of anyone who did not agree, are not allowed and are rejected automatically. Use JPG, PNG or WebP under 10 MB (on an iPhone, picking from Photos converts HEIC automatically).
